On July 22, 2008, several fields in KeyFacts were updated with data from the National Center
for Education Statistics (NCES), Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
You will notice that these data fields now have a small padlock icon located beside them and
can no longer be updated directly in Keyfacts. If you find an error in any of these data
fields, please click on the padlock to submit a change request. All change requests will be
addressed within 7-14 days.
Highlights of the IPEDS data integration include:
-
One central location for institutions to update their data
-
Making changes in the IPEDS database (which is necessary to receive federal funding) will automatically be reflected on Hobsons' Web sites.
-
Current school information
-
The imported data is as recent as spring 2008. We will continue to import IPEDS data twice a year (spring and fall).
-
Easy comparison for students
-
Students will be able to see data from various schools in terms of the same definition, collection method, and currency.
Hobsons is pleased to announce this change to the Keyfacts database for the benefit of our
clients and the students who access our Web sites. For your reference, you may visit the IPEDS
Web site at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact your Client Development Account Manager.
